How does Potenza work?
The Potenza RF microneedling treatment uses ultrafine needles and heat to penetrate the top layer of the skin and trigger the body’s natural healing process to regenerate new collagen and elastin.
During treatment, a microneedle tip is placed on the outer layer of the skin.
The microneedles penetrate the tissue. We have numerous settings for this part of the treatment depending on our goals for your skin.
The radio frequency energy is directly applied to the target treatment area. We can use monopolar or bipolar RF energy depending on our treatment goals.
The number of passes and penetration to the skin will vary by patient. The body’s natural repair process is triggered leading to new building of collagen and elastin over the next 4-6 weeks, with optimal results usually seen at 12 weeks after the last treatment.

Does Potenza hurt?
The area being treated is numbed with a topical numbing cream for at least 15-20 minutes prior to treatment. Once the treatment begins, you can feel a stinging or mild burning sensation that is usually described as “spicy.” You will feel some pressure from the tip as it is pressed against your skin. Most patients feel that any discomfort with Potenza is minimal and very tolerable.
Since everyone’s pain threshold is different, it is important to communicate any discomfort to the treating provider. We can apply more numbing cream, leave the numbing cream on longer for your next treatment, or we offer NitroNox*, similar to the nitrous oxide you receive in the dentist office, to help relax you.

The number of treatments needed will depend on patient preference and their desired results. Providers will typically recommend having a series of three to four treatments, six weeks apart for best results.
